This week, August 14-18, we are holding our first-ever all-school Game Jam. The students from all four of our programs, illustration, animation, graphic design and video game design, are working in multi-disciplinary groups to create a playable game by 1:00 p.m. on Friday.
Students at EDAC regularly participate in silo-busting cross-program projects, but this is the first time we are involving the whole school at once on a major project like this.
The students were divided into groups and must develop their own leadership structures, assign and work on tasks and each be accountable for their own work within the project. They learned who their group members are this morning right before they started. After taking a quick team photo, they headed off to their workspaces to get going.
The students are expected to have their game pretty much fleshed out by Wednesday, leaving Thursday and Friday morning for polishing. And so, we are looking for a few good folks who would be interested in playtesting the games on Thursday morning between 10:30 and noon. The games should be fully playable, but they won’t be completely polished. Part of your role as a playtester is to give the teams constructive feedback about their game so they can work on it and make it even more awesome!
If you are interested, please sign up below. We are limiting the number of playtesters to a maximum of 15 people. If you have any questions, you can call us at 780-429-4878 or send us an email.
